Live Long and Prosper: A Crochet Tribute to the Great Leonard Nimoy

Today is indeed a sad, sad day.

Leonard Nimoy passed away today at the age of 83. He was a wonderful man of many talents, and his characterization of the half-human, half-Vulcan Mr. Spock on Star Trek inspired many people.

A while ago, when I (temporarily) had my fill of crocheting tiny Doctors, companions & monsters with Nyss Park’s Mini Doctor Whos pattern, I decided I would make some minor modifications and crochet myself a miniature USS Enterprise, complete with the bridge, captain’s chair, science stations, and crew.

Having only completed Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock, it’s a project that has been placed on the back burner. It’s often in life that we realize how much we love or miss something once it is gone; perhaps it’s time I continue this Miniature Starship project.

From his tiny tricorder to his pointy little ears and Vulcan eyebrows – how else can a crocheter pay tribute to such a giant of a man?

Rest in peace, Leonard Nimoy. You are sorely missed.

“That is the exploration that awaits you! Not mapping stars and studying nebula, but charting the unknown possibilities of existence.” — Leonard Nimoy
