Happy Earth Day, crafters!
Let’s celebrate our wonderful planet by crafting some eco-friendly and simply awesome yarn crafts!
These patterns are adorable, fun, and friendly to this great rock we call home. Give one a try!
1) Crochet Save The Earth Bag from Red Heart
Use this bag for your around-town shopping. It’s perfect for buying groceries or more yarn!
The pattern calls for the Red Heart Eco-Cotton blend, but this blend of yarn has sadly been discontinued. You can substitute with another yarn of your choice or stop by your local yarn store and shop for another eco-friendly yarn option.
This little globe amigurumi pattern is too adorable for words! Share your love of our great Earth by quickly whipping up one of these cute globes! (I think this would make a cute ornament or stress ball!)
Stop buying those Swiffer pads that you just end up throwing away and make one (or two, or three!) of these reusable reversible Swiffer socks!
Linda suggests making them out of acrylic yarn, which generates static cling when brushed against the floors and helps attract more dust! Bonus clean!
These washcloths are adorable. Use them in your home and replace those paper towels!
Some counties are lucky enough to have facilities where they can recycle those plastic bags you get at the grocery stores, but the county where I live is not so lucky. You simply can’t reuse all of them, so what can you do? Make plastic yarn, of course!
Check out this wonderful tutorial on how to turn your collection of plastic grocery store bags into balls of plarn. Plarn is great for many projects, including sturdy rugs and bags!
So Happy Earth Day! Think green, and happy crafting!
