I can’t think of a better way to welcome in 2016 than with a magical Harry Potter crochet-along project!
The HP CAL will consist of a total of 13 squares: one larger center square (50 blocks x 50 blocks) and twelve surrounding smaller squares (25 blocks x 25 blocks).
Personally, I rarely ever have the yarn I need on-hand when I start a project, so I wanted to make it easier for myself and for those who like to plan ahead. I’ve created a PDF yarn yardage/color suggestion chart for the Harry Potter CAL that I hope will help!
I’ve tried to make this chart as clear and helpful as possible. It includes color suggestions in both Vanna’s Choice yarns and Red Heart Super Saver yarns, and it provides crafters with the yardage required for each square.
The PDF has two charts: the first chart includes the number of skeins required per color (listed in both color options) for the entire graphghan as I plan to make it. This means that it will provide you with all the information you need to make your HP graphghan exactly like mine. I will be using the detailed center square and the smaller figure squares for Harry, Ron and Hermione.
The rest of the PDF includes the second chart, which is organized by square. This chart includes the amount of each color you’ll need per square in yards, meters, and number of skeins.
Note: If you want to use any of the alternate designs provided, or if you want to change the background colors from what I’ll be doing, you can certainly do so! Just make sure you add up the yarn amounts from the chart. I’ve put the background color for each square on a different line so that it’s easy for you to calculate how much of a background color you’ll need.
I hope this helps everyone! I can’t wait to get started on this CAL. Look for more details coming soon!
