This is not crochet-related.

But it is important.

If you’re looking for a crochet- or yarn-related post today, please skip this one. If you’re looking for a heartfelt story about love, family, and four-legged friends, please read on.

My sister and I have not always seen eye-to-eye on a lot of things. She’s a bit rambunctious, flamboyant, and hardly has a care in the world–and I love her so much for it.

She’s had lizards, parakeets, kittens and even a gerbil once (however brief), but for one reason or another, they never stayed long (exception: demon cat, a story for another day).

Three years ago, she got herself an adorable little boxer puppy, whom she named Indica, or Indi for short. When my sister found out she was pregnant a few months later, I’ll admit that I thought that the pup wouldn’t stay long.

Boy, was I wrong.

That little pup has grown into a spirited, energetic dog, full of love for her humans–especially her favorite playmate, my 2-year-old nephew. She’s been his constant companion since the day he was born. He loves to follow her around, run with her, and share his toys with her. And like any good momma dog, she endures the hugs, the toys in the face, and even the occasional tail-pull.

This dog has been the glue that holds their little family together. (Aren’t they cute?)

This sweet and lovable dog is in need of surgery. She has an incredibly severe case of glaucoma in her left eye, causing her to be in excruciating pain. The surgery is to remove her eye entirely before it spreads to her right eye.

If you’ve read through this post thus-far and this story has touched your heart, I encourage you to hop over to Indi’s GoFundMe page and read a little more about her story. If you feel so inclined, you can donate any amount to go towards her surgery, whether it be a penny or twenty dollars. Anything can help.

And if you donate on behalf of the Two Hearts Crochet family, you can enter into a drawing to win my entire set of Doctor Who mini amigurumi figures as a way for me to say thank you for your generous and loving spirit. You can find the entry form here.
