Poll: eCourses…yay or nay?

Hello crafters!

As a crochter, I’m always looking for ways to share the yarn-crafting love. And as a blogger, I’m always looking for ways to improve my website.

So, what’s this about eCourses?

Well, eCourses are all the blogging rage right now. It’s a great way to share great content with a great audience! They take a fair bit of time and effort to create, but they offer a crisp, concise method of sharing information to a targeted audience.

I’ve been entertaining the idea of launching an online crochet-related course for a while now, but I’m having trouble deciding 1) if it’s worth the trouble, and 2) what the course would be about.

EDIT 10/13/17 – I’d like to say THANK YOU to everyone who has already voted in this poll. Your feedback helps! I have decided to move forward with this eCourse idea. I will be starting with a small course which will launch in March. Stay tuned for more details!

Ideally, I would like the courses to be crochet-related in some way. Whether it’s an in-depth look at different crafting materials, a detailed stitch tutorial, or a step-by-step how-to for a particular Two Hearts pattern. There would be a small fee for these courses, somewhere between $20-$50, depending on the course topic and how in-depth the material goes.

So I need your help! Please take a quick moment to answer the poll below.

When I first started Two Hearts Crochet back in January 2015, I was in search of a way to share some of my own patterns. Now mind you, I had never written a pattern before–I even had trouble reading a lot of patterns! But even though these patterns were full of errors, they were well received!

2015 was the year my hobby really took off. I challenged myself to learn new things, and my practice at writing patterns helped me to learn how to read them better. I started this blog and joined the rest of my fellow millennials on Twitter. (I know, I came late to the Twitter game!)

In 2016, I started what has easily become the most project we have ever done. The Harry Potter CAL designs are viewed on the blog EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. As a result of its popularity, the Harry Potter CAL brought some serious traffic to the blog. The traffic to the blog grew by over 429% (I know!), which is simply too amazing to put into words.

So far, 2017 has not been nearly as explosive a year as 2016, but it has been even better. Even though we haven’t had as much as an increase in blog traffic as last year, we’re still on track to beat our traffic records for 2016–not by a whole lot, of course, but still! This year has meant a lot to me. It’s been full of struggles and fun., and I’ve learned a lot about myself and my blog. I hope to move into 2018 with a really clear idea of what I want to achieve with the Two Hearts Crochet blog and brand identity.

Plus, 2018 has lots of fun projects planned, so YAY!

I’m really looking forward to what the future holds for Two Hearts Crochet and our crafting community. THANK YOU for taking the time to answer the poll (scroll up!)–I really appreciate it!

  1. I agree with Ruth D., however, personally it’s not for me. I’ve been crocheting for 53 years, so I can pretty much figure out any patterns I want to make. There are lots of newbies that would benefit from something along these lines, though. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
I would also like to say I have very much enjoyed all your CAL’s, and your other patterns also. I didn’t know about C2C until I learned it from you.
    Thank you very much,

  2. I would be quite interested in a course that helped you make your own charts, how to work out the material requirements and how to change the patterns to get correct shape/size required with the different stitches

  3. I really wish I could join something like this, but I can’t watch anything on video because it uses up all my data to even watch tiny videos. Then I’m stuck without data for the rest of the month.

  4. I think this is great I think I would start something small and maybe free and then move to bigger and charge there is just so much tutorials for free that if you charge to much it will just sit dormant.. but heck won’t ever know if you don’t try
