Crochet Along, Graphghans

The Fourteen Doctors

It’s been about a month (!) since my last blog post, and I’m still not quite sure how time flew that quickly…

Needless to say, it’s been a pretty hectic several weeks for me! Some of you may know that I work at my local university as my regular 8-5 job, and yesterday was one of our biggest, busiest, craziest, and most exciting days of the entire academic year: commencement.

A large part of my job is to help coordinate and organize Commencement Day. As such, the last several weeks leading up to the big day have been so crazy that I have forgotten to blog! Whoops!

From here on out (well, at least until next spring!), I’ll be a lot more active both on the blog and on social media. In fact, I’ve got a bunch of exciting things happening over the next couple of months that you won’t want to miss! Starting with…

That’s right, Doctor Who.

The 11th season of the reboot is set to premier in October, which is only four months away. That sounds like a lot, but the rest of this year has just zoomed by–I’m sure the next few months will as well! I’ve got lots of ideas for projects floating around in my brain right now, but I’ve been aching to do something a little more, you know, wibbly-wobbly.

Unfortunately, I have a million other things on my hook right now, and I’m trying really hard not to start something else until I finish one of those WIPs. So I decided to set my hook down this morning and work instead on something a little more digital.

Waaaay back when this blog was just an itty bitty tot, I hosted the Whovian CAL: a Doctor Who-themed crochet along graphghan.

This was the first ever crochet along that I had hosted on my blog, and it was met with great enthusiasm by Whovians all around the globe! I learned so much while making this blanket, and it will forever hold a very special place in my heart.

As you can see from the photos above, this CAL featured all of the new/reboot Doctors: Nine, Ten, Eleven and Twelve. This project was so popular that I ended up designing dozens of additional bonus squares for crocheters to choose from. Here are just a few of my favorites:

After a while, I knew I just had to make a set of bonus graphs featuring each of the Doctors in some of their most iconic outfits. This became known as the Doctor Collection, which you can find here.

This collection is one of my favorite sets of designs for one of my favorite fandoms (dare I say, my favorite fandom?!).

I was so excited when I learned that Jodi Whittaker had been cast as the 13th Doctor, and I knew I had to design a graph specifically for her Doctor (including that crazy awesome outfit)!

I’ve been putting it off for a while, but I’m so happy to say that she’s finally here and officially a part of the new and improved Doctor Collection for the Whovian Graphghan. And here she is:

I’m absolutely loving that outfit! The bright colors are so fun, don’t you think?

Is anyone else getting excited for the new season? I’ve been binge watching the last couple of seasons to hold me over until October, but I don’t think it’ll be enough. I may have to go back and start with Eccleston again…oh darn!

I too am re-watching the series to maybe be caught up before Whittaker starts…but I started with William Hartnell, so not sure I`ll manage it!

  4. Love the new square. I am almost finished with my Doctor Who c2c blanket all I need to do is sew it together. Looks like my honey is going to get 2 pillows instead of 1.
