Hello, and happy holidays to your family from mine!

If you’re looking to bring a little Christmas spirit into your crafting, look no further! This is a pattern set for two amigurumi elves: a little boy elf and a little girl elf! Make sure you read all the way through to the end, because there will be some instructions on assembly and finishing details.

Note: This pattern set was the subject for the 2017 Amigurumi Challenge. This challenge is now complete. If you joined me, I hope you had fun! If you missed out, don’t worry! Visit the resources page for some help with amigurumi.

Work the pattern as indicated. Some pieces (head, body, arms, and hat) will need to be made multiple times if you want to make BOTH the little girl elf and the little boy elf.

TIP: You may want to make the pieces for one doll first and then for the other, especially if you’re working from the same ball of yarn for each doll!

Finishing Steps

Use a yarn needle and the tail ends of the yarn to carefully sew the arms onto the body between rounds 11 and 12. If desired, you can stitch the openings at the tops of the arms flat before sewing the arms to the body.

Carefully sew the hair piece to the little girl elf’s head.

Use a strand of yarn in the HAIR COLOR(S) and a yarn needle to embroider eyebrows onto the dolls.

Carefully sew the hats to the doll’s heads, working just above the white hat trim round. Then, fold the hat back and work a few stitches along where the two sides of the hat meet at the back of the head. This will help the hat stay flat.

If desired, stitch a jingle bell onto the point of the hats!

To make the little boy elf’s hair, figure out where you want the “part” of his hair to be. Then, use a yarn needle and a long strand of yarn in HAIR COLOR to stitch on the hair. Work in two lines (one on either side of the part) across the front of the face. One will be worked across the doll’s forehead, and the other will be worked down to the side (kind of like a normal hair-do that’s parted just off to the side). Repeat as many times as desired to get different fullness of hair. When satisfied, pull the needle back through the doll’s head and trim excess yarn.

Use a strand of BLACK thread and a yarn needle to embroider eyelashes onto the little girl elf’s face.

Weave in all ends.
